Another great Travel anthology. Better than "Nowhere", though, because every story in it is hilarious. From bad haircuts to invading baboons, I enjoyed every bit of this book. Some of my favorites:
* Anne Lamott compares her oversize thighs to a pair of beloved maiden aunties in "The Aunties".
* Germaine Shames' Mexican lover proclaims his undying affection for her as she nearly drowns.
* Donald Katz shares his meeting with "The King of the Ferret-Leggers". An insane Irish man with a bunch of ferrets down his pants. How can this not be funny?
* A joke about what Adam and Eve received when God created them. Adam gets the ability to pee standing up, and Eve gets...you'll just have to read it.

I am so excited that you started this blog! I am always looking for new books to read, and there are sadly not too many book readers in my circle of aquaintances here in Ontario. Well, at least nothing that doesn't fall into the LDS Fiction category. Not that I don't like a good wholesome novel now and then...but sometimes I just want something a bit more intellectual or...well, different!
I wish I had been reading more lately, but I have managed to slip in a really good ethnological study (for anthropology dorks this was awesome) called Where the World Ended: Reunification and Identity in the German Borderland. Actually really interesting and well written, I thought.
Wow, I am definitely going to have to check this one out! I'm giggling just reading your descriptions!
